books 'r us

This is a photo of the book that I made my brother-in-law for Christmas. I just sent it today, so even if we were following the Russian Orthodox calendar, it would be late. I also messed up one part of the address, which probably doesn't help, so -sorry Stephen. I guess at least if he reads this, he will get to see a photo of his book, but I hope that it does arrive safe and sound. Most of the books I make for sale are currently accordion books, like the ones below...I just really love Japanese paper. I think that I have said that before, and this is only my second post. If you are in the local Halifax area, I sell my books at Henhouse, which I think is a fantastic shop (and not just because they stock my books). They have wonderful furniture, and a range of products by local artists and craftspeople. If you are in the area, I recommend that you check it out. I must finish off this blog post, American Idol is calling. Yes, I do know that's very sad, but I can't help it.

Welcome to my blog...

Well, hi again. In case you can't tell, I am totally new at this blog thing. I mean, I love reading loads of great blogs, but my posting/publishing skills are rudimentary at best, so please be patient with me! Of course, I hope to learn more and get better over time. I am not exactly computer illiterate, but I kinda like old fashioned things, like pens and pencils. You may even ask why I am writing a blog - well, I guess it's because I love to create things, and there seems to be a great community out there making things and sharing ideas that I'd like to be a part of.

Perhaps I should tell you a little more about myself. I have a little enterprise called double happiness designs. I make handmade books and paper...umm....things - mainly using Japanese paper. I love the look and feel of Japanese paper, and most of the things I make end up having some kind of Asiany flair - like the bird card you see here. Horrible photo, but again, I hope to get better. I sell my things at craft fairs and local shops here in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Well, only one shop at the moment, but that's another thing I'm working on. Anyhow, I hope you'll come back to visit my blog if you're interested in the same things, or maybe even just to poke fun at my cruddy layouts and photos. At this stage, I can't be too fussy.
