No Knit Scarf

I found this project on the Martha Stewart website, and I just love it! A few of the comments on the Martha site say it's made with Twinkle yarn, which looks absolutely delicious! I have been thinking of things to do to pass the time while we are on our 25 hour plus journey to Australia, but I wasn't sure if I could take knitting needles on the plane with me. This could fit the bill - but do you think I can make it in economy class on a tray table? Maybe not...

On this last trip I discovered that knitting IS the way to go on a flight. I wonder if you can contact the airline about international knitting needle rules and regs? But it is a great scarf, best saved for the flight home because I don't know that you'll need it in Australia.

P.S. TPB: The Move opens Jan 25th in the US. HA! I already have the DVD thanks to a little Canadian bird. Thanks again for keeping me outfitted.

The TSA says knitting needles are allowed, and I recently took some over to Ireland. I'd say avoid the metal needles and stick with bamboo or plastic - but definitely bring them along. Planes and knitting are a match made in heaven.

I took my knitting along on my last flight and didn't run into any problems - and it's better than carrying a magazine you're going to finish by the time they turn the seatbelt sign off!

A friend of mine was taken her crochet needle and littel scissors before she got on a plane, but that was only a year after 9/11, maybe the rules are not that strict anymore? (it was on a flight in Europe)
I like the scarf, by the way!

Be sure to always check out:

before you get on a plane -- the regulations change all the time and this is the way to stay on top of things! Have a wonderful, safe trip!

Hi Trudi,
I did see a woman knitting on the plane when I flew at Christmas. You should call the airline and check it out. Have great day. Cheers! Denise
